Diane Durrett returns to host the second Women in Blues Show Friday October 15, 2021

“I wanted to be able to showcase the other instruments that women play. We perform different songs, but it’s a structured event where people play with different groups. It’s not a jam,” Durrett says emphatically, “You’re gonna get a show!”

Bio

Singer, songwriter, producer Diane Durrett is a board member of the Recording Academy Atlanta Chapter, best known for the GRAMMYs. In 2020, during the pandemic with no LIVE shows Diane shifted adding video editing to her technical skills. She produced three music videos for her latest singles 'Make America Groove',  'Good News' and 'Blue Water'.   This lead to editing, producing and hosting a two part video series for theProducer & Engineer Wing of Recording Academy in 2021 called "In the Mix Studio PROS; Ladies Leading the Way.  Her 2018 LIVE album "Diane Durrett & Soul Suga"  recorded at Eddie’s Attic was reviewed as “Killer, high octane soul throughout" and rose to #5 on the Soul Blues International RMR. In 2017 she was a Global Peace Song Award winner for ‘The River Sings’ co-written with Melissa Junebug.  Winner of the 2015 ‘Peoples Choice Award’ by the Atlanta Blues Society, as well as awarded the ‘Best Self-Produced Album’. “Soul Suga’ & Diane Durrett” received national & international attention charting in the Top 10 of the Roots Music Report Contemporary Blues chart.  During the last six years, Diane has joined music leaders across the country to advocate for creator rights in Georgia and with Grammys on the Hill in Washington, D.C. resulting in the passing of the Music Modernization Act.

With a blend of raw soulful vocals, sultry tones, and strong original songs Durrett has sung with Sting, Gregg Allman, The Indigo Girls, and Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones). Durrett has opened shows for Tina Turner, KoKo Taylor, Tinsley Ellis, Delbert McClinton, and Derek Trucks. As well as lending her vocals to recording sessions for GRAMMY award winning producer Brendan O’Brien and Kristian Bush (Sugarland).

From her energy-driven breakthrough debut 50,000 Volts of Soul (1993) to her superbly executed Rhythm of Life (1998) to her acoustic soul CHILL (2004), to the LIVE, Georgia On the Groove (2007), the groovy Blame It On My DNA (2009) produced by Ike Stubblefield to her holiday album Georgia Christmas (2012) to her release where she joined forces with GRAMMY award winning drummer Yonrico Scott and Melissa Junebug on Soul Suga’ (2015) to her soulful remake of the chart topping  song "The Rose" (2017) co-produced with Thom 'T.K .' Kidd to her electrifying  LIVE album recorded at Eddie’s Attic, Diane Durrett & Soul Suga (2018) to her holiday single "Another Ride Around the Sun" (2019) to 2020 pre-album release singles "Blue Water", "Good News" and "Make America Groove".  Full album "Put A Lid On It" out September 24th.

CHILL

Diane Durrett

Singer/Songwriter ~ Chill, pairs the blue-eyed Georgia soulstress with a stripped-down acoustic band (guitar, piano, stand-up bass and percussion) to create an intimate and soothing experience . . . the kind that has taken Norah Jones to the top of the charts.” – Georgia Music Hall of Fame Produced by Diane Durrett Engineered by Markham White

"Another Ride Around the Sun" is getting airplay in the U.K. on the Blues At radio show and the Crossroads Radio Equinox in Belgium! The song has also been added to Spotify's algorithmic playlist The Sound of Blues Band.

Excited about being in the studio working on our new Soul Suga' record!  Still getting radio play and reviews from our LIVE @ Eddie's Attic album.  Thanks, La Hora Del Blues in Spain! "From Atlanta, blues and soul singer and songwriter Diane Durrett bursts into music like a tornado. This is her eighth album, the last two backed by Soul Suga' band. The new album is the first one she has recorded live from one of her electrifying shows and accurately let us see Diane in her element, that is to say, on stage giving the best of herself, performing a repertoire that tells us about life, love, redemption, and joy, as well as other topics she delivers with commitment and passion."

All Is Well

I wrote this song for my grandmother.  When she was going through the toughest times in her life she would "All is Well".  She outlived her only child, my  mother.  My Mom was the first liver transplant patient in Georgia at Emory University Hospital.  Because of that successful operation we had 10 more years with my Mom. Today is her birthday. Though both of them have gone with the angels I say carry on their memory ...All Is Well
