This song is a fun, energetic Blues romp written by both Diane Durrett and Yoel B’nai Yehuda. While “they say [that] no good deed goes unpunished,” the love, joy, and excitement of all the musicians on this track show the seeds that have to be planted for “the good [to go] with you.” Then you can “Go ahead and leave your worry behind.”
The call and response between Diane on the vocals and the talented Liz Melendez on guitar presents the way our inner selves and public selves talk to each other. Then Junebug on drums with accents by Gregg Shapiro on bass insert themselves into the dialog, reassuring us that no matter what happens the “good goes with us.” The incredible band Soul Suga brings forth the unbounded energy with Peggy Still Johnson on background vocals, Yoel B’nai Yehuda on Hammond B3 Organ, Gregg Shapiro’s bass, and Liz’s ripping guitar improv to yell out a reminder in full force that “good goes with you.”
This song is the “light on your path when you can’t see, rockin’ you like a baby, so you can sleep.” But the energy every musician brings to this song is unlikely to help you sleep—more likely to make you dance while you’re planting the right seeds.
Sometimes it takes a while to be able to see and feel the good, even once the seeds are planted deeply. But eventually it comes back around, even if it seems to backfire in the beginning.
Diane tells us, “It keeps going throughout your life in different ways, so keep planting those good seeds and you’ll see it throughout your life,” sometimes when you least expect it.
