The chords for “Chasing Sunsets” came together while Diane was enjoying ‘lake life’ and playing her acoustic guitar in the summer evenings. She had the melody in her head but needed something more.
Diane and Melissa Junebug, spent the pandemic getting back in touch with nature. Floating in the water, talking about the weather, “we got into a conversation about people chasing tornadoes.” Junebug laughed, “But we don’t chase tornados; we chase sunsets.” Thus, the title was born and Diane had the hook she needed.
She “could visualize both of us finishing work and trying to get to the sunset before it was gone.” Every time Twiggs, their dog, heard the opening guitar lines she came running as if it was time for a boat ride.
They decided that the sunset was so beautiful it must have been created by love. Diane known for her tongue-in-cheek humor joked “Mother Earth said to the universe, hey baby, let’s get together and watch the colors burst.” Chasing Sunsets reminds us of seeking beautiful and peaceful places, feeling grateful and longing to spend every sunset with the ones you love.
